                           City Commission Worksession
                                    May 8, 2006

                                     MINUTES

The meeting was called to order by Vice Mayor Gawron at 5:32 p.m.

Present were Vice Mayor Gawron, Commissioners Carter, Davis, Shepherd, Spataro, and
Wierengo. Mayor Warmington was excused


   1.     Amendment of 1.3 of the City’s Tax Abatement Policy. Assistant City
          Manager Lee Slaughter explained the item.

          Motion by Commissioner Carter, second by Commissioner Wierengo to add
          to the May 9th City Commission Meeting agenda.
          VOTE: All Ayes

   2.     Commission Computer Access. City Manager Bryon Mazade gave an
          overview.

          Motion by Commissioner Davis, second by Commissioner Wierengo to
          recommend proceeding with the purchase of computer software and hardware.
          VOTE: All Ayes

   3.     Accept Resignation from E.E.O.C.

          Motion by Commissioner Carter, second by Commissioner Davis to accept
          the resignation from Maris Myers.
          VOTE: All Ayes

   4.     Update on Terrace Street Lots Proposals. City Manager Bryon Mazade stated
          that two proposals were received today at 3:00 p.m. and another one was
          received late (a little before 5:00 p.m.). Commission asked that all three
          proposals be considered. City Manager Bryon Mazade will consider all three
          proposals and bring his recommendation back to the Commission.
5.   Update on Central Fire Station Relocation. City Manager Bryon Mazade,
     Director of Public Safety Tony Kleibecker, and Deputy Director of Public
     Safety Mark Kincaid gave an update.

6.   Any Other Business.

     Ruddiman Creek project is coming to a close. Monday at 2:00 p.m. there will
     be a celebration at the site.

     Update was given reference the Cable TV franchise fee lawsuit.

     Agreement between the City and MDOT for decorative concrete work at
     Western Avenue will be added to the May 9th City Commission Meeting
     agenda.

     City Manager Bryon Mazade has been contacted by two companies who
     would like to construct the Arena Clubroom. Bryon would like to have an
     architect design it and then go out for bids. Commission agreed to bid out the
     project.

     Commissioner Spataro asked about our Sister City. Assistant City Manager
     Lee Slaughter gave an update.

     Commissioner Davis commented on the growing number of signs on terraces,
     City tax forms, and the water bill process.

7.   The meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
