2010 City Budget Now Available

The proposed 2010 City of Muskegon budget has been released and is now available for public review. City staff prepares a recommended budget that is presented to the City Commission by September first. The City Commission then considers the recommendation and makes changes it deems necessary. A public hearing on the budget will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 during the regular City Commission meeting (which begins at 5:30 PM). The Muskegon Fire Department is charged with fire suppression, fire prevention, public fire safety education, medical first responder, confined space rescue, ice/water rescue, and hazardous materials incident response within the city limits of Muskegon and as an aid to other area departments. The Department of Public Works, "DPW", is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the city's infrastructure such as streets, highways, bridges, water filtration and distribution, sewage collection and treatment, street lights, traffic control, street drains and storm sewers.
