LeighAnn Mikesell is the Deputy City Manager. She is an engineer/planner with 29 years of experience and joined the city team in 2017. Much of LeighAnn’s career was spent working in the transportation industry at the Michigan Department of Transportation. She holds a BSE from the University of Michigan.
LeighAnn was born and raised in Muskegon and is grateful to see her hometown in the midst of a resurgence. She is focused on diversifying development across the city by creating strategies to market the business and developer friendly climate in Muskegon, collaborating with neighbors, providing housing that meets the needs of the current population and is attractive to newcomers, and she is implementing policies that remove barriers and embrace our diverse community. In essence, LeighAnn is dedicated to moving Muskegon forward to benefit all who live, work, and visit here.
LeighAnn has recently moved to the Nelson neighborhood where she enjoys the close proximity to all that downtown has to offer. She has two grown children, Allison and Cash, who are attending college.
