MUSKEGON BOARD OF CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSIONERS
Regular Meeting Minutes
Thursday, October 9, 2014
4:00 p.m. City Hall, Room 203

I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner David George Newsome at
4:22 p.m.
Also present: Commissioner David Wendtland, Commissioner Pamela Lynk,
Deborah Groeneveld, Human Resources Director, Jeffery Lewis, Public Safety
Director, Mary Mansfield, Administrative Secretary and three interested parties.
II. MINUTES
Motion was made by David Wendtland and seconded by Pamela Lynk to
approve the regular minutes of the September 11, 2014 meeting.
Motion Carried.
III. ACTION AGENDA
A. Disciplinary Appeal for Curtis Adams. Public Safety Director Lewis commented
that in regards to the recent discipline, Curtis Adams was written up recently
and he wished to come to the Civil Services for this hearing. In section 5 of the
Civil Services rules, it states that Mr. Adams has the right to counsel. Mr. Lewis
asked that the action be postponed for the attorney to review the discipline and
represent the City for the discipline. Commissioner David George Newsome
questioned if there was not enough time for this to occur, and Mr. Lewis
confirmed.
Motion was made by David Wendtland and seconded by Pamela Lynk to
postpone the disciplinary appeal of Curtis Adams until the November Civil
Services Meeting.
Motion Carried.

IX. OTHER BUSINESS
Commissioner Wendtland commented that Deborah speak with the Mayor in
regards to filling David George Newsome’s position.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 4:26 p.m.
