APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion to approve the regular meeting minutes of July 2, 2013 was made by S. Kroes, supported by L.
Wood and unanimously approved.

NEW BUSINESS

Case 2013-08 – 412 W Muskegon Avenue. Applicant: Donald and Mary Vanderwest. District: Houston.
Current Function: Residential. The applicant is seeking approval to install a 4-foot chain link fence on the
vacant property next to their house at 416 W Muskegon Ave. The fence has actually been erected
already. A City inspector had noticed that the fence had been put up without a permit and notified the
Planning Department. The applicants were not aware that HDC approval was needed.

A motion that the HDC approve the request to install the 4-foot chain link fence as long as it meets all
zoning requirements and the necessary permits are obtained, was made by L. Wood, supported by S.
Kroes and unanimously approved.

S. Radtke arrived at 4:08 p.m.

Case 2013-09 – 1135 5th Street and 453 W. Webster Avenue. Applicant: Clement Coulombe & Brandon
Morrison. District: Houston. Current Function: Residential. The applicants own adjacent properties and
will share a fence, so both names are on the application. They are seeking approval to install a 5 ½-foot
wooden privacy fence with a lattice top between the properties, as well as erecting a shed at the rear of the
property at 453 W. Webster. The fence is under 6 feet tall, including the lattice top. It will match other
fences in the area, so it will fit in with the neighborhood. A picture of a nearby property with a similar
fence is included with the photos submitted by the applicant. The shed will be 8’ x 12’, made of wood,
and the color will match the house. A picture of the shed type was provided, as well as photos of the
proposed location of the fence.

A motion that the HDC approve the request to install a wooden privacy fence as proposed, and to erect a
wooden shed in the back yard of 453 W. Webster as proposed, as long as all zoning requirements are met
and the necessary permits are obtained, was made by L. Spataro, supported by S. Kroes and unanimously
approved.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
