supported by W. Krick and unanimously approved.

NEW BUSINESS/PUBLIC HEARINGS

Case 2010-09 – 158 Catherine Ave. Applicant: Schmidt Roofing. District: McLaughlin. Class: A.
Current Function: Residential. D. Leafers presented the staff report. The applicant is seeking
approval to replace the siding from wood to vinyl and to replace the windows from wood to vinyl.
Staff recommends approval of the project.

W. Krick asked what the front window would be replaced with. Mr. Schmidt stated that it would be
a picture window. L. Spataro stated that vinyl replacement windows and siding are normally
allowed in a single A district, but that the HDC usually requires the window openings to remain the
same, as well as the lites. Board members discussed the mullion on the front window with the
applicant. Mr. Schmidt stated that he would put a strip across the new window, to closely match
what was currently there.

A motion that the HDC approve the request to replace the siding from wood to vinyl and to replace
the windows from wood to vinyl, with the conditions that 1) all architectural features such as
cornices and corbels are retained, the new windows are the same size and pattern as the existing
windows, and that any necessary permits are obtained, was made by L. Spataro, supported by K.
Panozzo and unanimously approved.

Case 2010-10 – 470 W Clay Avenue. Applicant: Monet Gardens. District: Clay-Western. Class:
AA. Current Function: Garden. D. Leafers presented the staff report. The applicant is seeking
approval to replace a sign at the Monet Garden, because the old sign was stolen. The new sign will
be a 2’ x 3’ foot double-sided wood sign with decorative posts. A photo of the sign was provided to
the board. Staff recommends approval of the sign.
