NEW BUSINESS

Case 2013-01 – 1771 Jefferson Street. Applicant: Meri Williams. District: Jefferson. Current
Function: Residential. The applicant is seeking approval to replace the wood siding with vinyl siding
and one wood window with a vinyl window. The applicant was asked to get a bid for refurbishing
the wood elements instead of replacing with vinyl.

G. Sherman from 1-800-Hansons presented information on behalf of the homeowner. He explained
the work to be done on the house and stated they would only be replacing one window, not all of
them.

A motion that the HDC approve the request to replace the wood siding with vinyl siding and one
wood window with a vinyl window, as long as the original window size, opening, and configuration
are retained and the necessary permits are obtained, was made by L. Spataro, supported by S. Kroes
and approved, with S. Radtke voting nay.

Case 2013-02 – 1219 Ransom Street. Applicant: City of Muskegon. District: McLaughlin. Current
Function: Residential. M. Franzak presented the staff report. The Code Compliance Department of
the City of Muskegon is seeking approval to demolish the garage at 1219 Ransom. The Housing
Board of Appeals declared the garage a dangerous building on May 3, 2012.

H. Mitchell explained the process of getting the property on the City’s dangerous building list. It was
not the house that was going to be demolished, but the two-story garage on the property. She
explained the condition of the garage.

A motion that the HDC approve the request to demolish the garage at 1219 Ransom Street, as long as
all zoning requirements are met and the necessary permits are obtained, was made by L. Wood,
supported by S. Kroes and unanimously approved.
