Citizen’s District Council Meeting

January 7, 2020




CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Kim Burr at 5:30 pm.

ROLL CALL:
Roll call was taken by Samantha Pulos-Porter, and a quorum was present.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
A motion to approve the minutes from December 3, 2019 was made by Veania Coleman;
Samantha Ferguson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:
Summer Youth Employment Program: 23 kids took part in the program. It will continue into
next year. A letter received by CNS from one of the Youth Advocates that helped monitor the
program was read, where he reflected on further plans to work with youth.
NEW BUSINESS:
2020 Meeting Schedule: Sam P. from CNS will check with the City Clerk’s about any election
conflicts with the tentative meeting schedule. We will revisit the schedule in February.

Senior Millage: A handout out was given summarizing the status and progress of the Muskegon
County Senior Millage Repair Program in CNS. There is possible additional funding coming
soon.

Lead Safe Muskegon: The program finds home in need of lead abatement with resident with
elevated blood lead levels through Muskegon County Public Health or doctor offices. The total
award amount was $880,805.

STAFF REPORTS:
Report about Smith Ryerson and 3rd Street Beautification were given in a handout to the group.
Jeremy Lenertz asked if the HVAC upgrades at Smith Ryerson accommodated the whole
building. CNS staff will confirm with DPW and report back in February.

ADJOURN:
Jeremy Lenertz motioned to adjourn the meeting, Samantha Ferguson seconded the motion,
which passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 6:09 pm.

The next meeting date is: February 4, 2020.
