Lighten up. A beer tent is no different than any other bar. Why don't we shut those down too?

The really stale dates (like March 29, 2009) should be removed from the events list. Out of date stuff like this makes Muskegon look bad!

It would be nice if dates were included in the events calendar, instead of having to go to different pages for more information. There's no date for the Irish celebration anywhere, and had to go looking for the Bike info.

I think Muskegon has worked very hard on changing the downtown area. As far as beer tents go. Not everyone gets drunk and it is a social thing more then anything. People must be responsible and I highly doubt beer tents cause alcoholism. I do not drink but I see nothing wrong in a beer tent. At least Muskegon tries to have activities etc. I think Jane Doe needs a dose of reality.

@ Jane Doe
Apparently you have never been to Germany?

I actually thought it was funny that Muskegon claims to be the worlds beer tent capital, as I have been to many such places around Europe.

You never brought up your moral convictions, but I have a feeling they are a bit puritan. Beer tents make tons of economic sense, and are perfectly legal, your beef is with drunk drivers which I think we all have a problem with.

Maybe your time would be better spent working on some sort of free public transport to and from these events?

Rev. Washington,

It appears that the nearest port of call for the tall ships this year will be Chicago August 24-29. This link has more info: http://www.sailtraining.org/tallships/2010greatlakes/ . This website lists all the ports of call for the tall ships.
