Stormwater Management ­ We will be

Phase II NPDES permit. This will involve Illicit

Water Filtration Plant ­ The state-required
reliability study has triggered a major project to
make mandated upgrades to the water filtration
plant. We will eliminate the discharge of
sediments, created during the water treatment
process to Lake Michigan as required by 2005.
Plant treatment capacity will be increased from
28 to 40 MGD. This capacity is expected to
meet demands of the system until 2030.
Additional security measures will be
implemented to protect our facility. 

Water/Sewer Maintenance ­ The program to
reduce sanitary sewer backups and consequent
liability claims will continue. We are beginning a
building inspection program to eliminate cross
connections between city water and unsafe
