Sue Wierengo

Life-long Muskegon area resident; widowed; 6 children, 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; advocate for children and literacy; member of St. Gregory’s Church, past vestry member, current chair of minister search.

  • Founding director of Hospice of Muskegon (1981 – 1989)
  • First Executive Director of the Michigan Hospice Organization (1989 – 1996)
  • Coordinator of Special projects for Volunteer Muskegon (1996 – 2002)
    • Developed literacy program at Angell School, including summer day camp
    • Provided grant writing and fund development
  • Director of Community Leadership Program (Leadership Muskegon) (1996 – present)
  • Self-employed as Project Specialist: Focus on grant writing, fund development and strategic planning for nonprofit organizations, (1996 – present)
