What is the cost to residents for trash collection?

Michigan 49442
(231) 727-6020)

Hello,
Can an old AC be picked up ?
Appliances require separate garbage stickers, which cost $25.00 and must be stuck visibly to the appliance in order for the City to take the appliance at garbage pick-up. Appliances and scrap metal can also be brought to many local scrap dealers. Appliance stickers can be purchased in the Treasurer’s Office.
Can a single size mattress be put out for pick up?
They will pick up this item, but you must have a mixed refuse sticker on any item that will not fit in your cart. Stickers can be purchased for $2.00 each (buy 5, get one free) at the City of Muskegon Treasurer’s Office, 933 Terrace (8:30 – 5:00) or Public Service Building, 1350 E. Keating (8:00 – 4:30).
Please put the item out at the same time as your regular garbage. When your cart is emptied the driver will make note to send another truck to pick up the stickered item, so please leave the item at the curb. They should return before 6:00 pm to pick up the item. Also, you may want to tape, or pin the sticker to the mattress so that it does not fall off.
If you have any other questions, you may contact the Department of Public Works at 724-4100.
