Lake Michigan Park

lake-michigan-park Major publicly owned stretch of shoreline dune between Pere Marquette and Kruse Parks. Characterized by narrow beaches and high steeply ascending dunes. Dunes are generally grass covered on their western faces. The back dunes are heavily wooded.

Location: Lake Michigan Shoreline and Dunes from Sherman Boulevard to Lakeshore Drive (Bluffton & Beachwood).

Today's Cool Muskegon Fact
Bill Szymczyk, one of the great rock and roll producers of all-time, was born in Muskegon and is a 1960 graduate of Muskegon High School. He produced many of the top albums and singles of the 1970s, retiring from the business in 1990. He re-emerged in 2005, taking on select projects including the 2007 Eagles album Long Road Out of Eden. After convincing B.B. King that he could improve his sound to make him more appealing to a wider audience, King agreed to let Szymczyk produce for him. Among the albums he produced for B. B. King are the 1969 live album Live & Well, King's first ever top-100 album. He also produced "The Thrill Is Gone", the biggest hit of King's career and his signature song. Szymczyk was producer for several Eagles albums, including 1976's Hotel California, the first to feature Joe Walsh. Szymczyk was instrumental in giving the Eagles a more "rock sound" and helping them to break free from their country rock roots. Other groups Szymczyk has produced include the Who, Bob Seger, Santana, Joe Walsh, the James Gang, the J. Geils Band, Rick Derringer, and Edgar Winter.
