Title: Senior Transit Worker

Description: Under the general supervision of the Public Works Department, operates city-owned passenger vehicles providing door-to-door transportation/assistance for City of Muskegon senior residents via a preset schedule and radio dispatch. Drivers work approximately 2-3 days per week, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Qualifications: This position requires a working knowledge of reading, writing, and arithmetic less than that generally attained through high school completion. This is an entry-level position, and no specific prior work experience is required.

Salary Range: $9.25-12.25 Per Hour

Examination: Interview. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, authorized to work in the U.S. and able to meet the City’s hiring criteria by passing pre-employment background checks.

Notes: Possession of a valid Michigan Chauffeur’s License, an acceptable driving record as described in the City of Muskegon’s Driving Record Policy, and excellent knowledge of the streets in the Muskegon area. Downloadable general application available online.
