2010 User Fees Approved
December 9, 2009
The City has several hundred “user fees” for various services it provides ranging from cemetery burials to boat launch fees. User fees are intended to cover the cost of services benefitting only a specific party. For example, it would not be prudent to use general tax dollars to pay for maintenance of the City’s boat launch ramps when the primary beneficiaries are boaters using the facilities – not the general public.
Annually City departments review their user fees and recommend adjustments. For 2010, changes to the user fee schedule are relatively minor and include:
- Elimination of cat licensing fees (city no longer performing this function);
- Overhaul of the temporary/special event liquor license fees;
- Increase in fee for manual tax lien look-ups;
- Implementation of new fee for internet tax lien look-ups;
- Implementation of refundable deposit for park rentals (to encourage post-event cleanup);
- Implementation of new fee for beach weddings;
